-Model United Nation Conferences-
During this project we did a simulation of a United Nations Conference. We each were assigned a country ,and then were asked to share our countries views about the Venezuelan Refugees crisis. While acting as a representative of our country we had to deliver a speech on what our country felt was the best way to solve the Venezuelan Refugee crisis. Our speech had to include valid points and reasoning to support our views, while also supporting one of the resolutions created by 3 different countries. During the last MUN conference, we discussed the issue of Nuclear Non Proliferation. Acting as a representative of France, I expressed our thoughts on what should be done regarding this issue. Giving a speech on which resolution we supported, as well as France adding an amendment to one we came up with three out of the four resolutions coming into action to help move towards a nuclear free world.
-Nuclear Non-Proliferation -
Although France is part of the 9 countries with nuclear power, France believes completely in the disarmament of nuclear weapons. France is leading the way in the fight against nuclear proliferation. France wishes to reinforce international peace & security. (The Position Of France, L1)
The power of Nuclear weapons is a huge threat that the world has to face today. With over 15,000 nuclear weapons existing in the world today. Out of the three possible treaties only one, the non nuclear proliferation treaty, is currently active to help prevent the outbreak of a nuclear war. While France is a member of the 9 countries with Nuclear power, “France is fully committed within the international negotiations on nuclear disarmament and the fight against nuclear proliferation.” (Position Of France, L1) France is fully committed to fighting for a nuclear weapon free world. While Frances is legally allowed to have weapons of mass destruction they have “significantly led the way” (Position Of France, P4) in the disarmament of nuclear weapons. Being the first state ,along the side of the United Kingdom, to have “signed and ratified the “Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty” (CTBT)” (Position Of France, P4 L1) France has always made sure to “maintain their nuclear arsenal to the lowest level possible.” (Position Of France, P3) and they are the only country to have “dismantled [their nuclear weapons] in a transparent manner.” (Position Of France, P4 L3) France is willing to do everything necessary to introduce a nuclear free world into everyday life, but believes transparency efforts are a huge contribution into creating trust around the dismantlement of nuclear weapons.
France believes one of the most reliable solutions to this issue is to enforce the Comprehensive test ban treaty (CTBT). The CTBT bans any explosions as a result of a weapon of mass destruction. Being one of the first countries to sign on to this treaty France believes this could make a huge impact on the way to an overall nuclear free world. The CTBT is commonly associated with the ban of fissile material or anything being used for things other than a peaceful use. Having such a treaty in place could have a vast impact on the amount of nuclear material available for use. Having this treaty in place would have required on site inspection required. This overall would help with a complete transparency in the development and hopeful dismantling of nuclear weapons.
In conclusion, France believes the only way for such a large issue to be
handled is through complete and utter transparency on every party involved end. Having treaties in place such as the CTBT and recognizing Frances leadership role in the fight for non proliferation will overall help move us toward a nuclear weapon free world.
- Model United Nations: Venezuelan Refugee Crisis -
-Speech Picture-
-Policy Paper-
Although the Venezuelan refugee crisis has become the most violent refugee crisis across the nation, France believes that the solution should be strictly political and peaceful.
Since 2010 there has been an ongoing Venezuaelan refugee crisis. This is one of the biggest crises that the UN has ever seen. Over 4 million Venezuaelans have been forced to retrieve asylum in other countries. All of this is a direct result of the Venezuelan government mismanaging and corrupting their economic state. Because of Venezuela’s current economic crisis things such as food, medicine and overall basic necessity have been almost impossible to retrieve. Statistics show that “ 90% of Venezuela's population are living below the poverty line and half of families are unable to meet basic food needs.” (mercycorps, p ?) The fact of the matter is the residents of Venezuela are human, but are not being treated in such a way. Having to fight for your food and basic needs, is something that no human should have to do anymore. A recent study found that “over 60 percent of Venezuelans said that during the previous three months they had woken up hungry because they did not have enough money to buy food.” (New York Post, 3) The reason so many are fleeing Venezuela is to hopefully find a place where they are able to provide these basic needs for themselves and their families. France believes that we need to start providing more aid to the Venezuelan residents.
France believes one of the most reliable solutions to this crisis is to take Maduro out of office. We firmly believe that the solution to this problem should be strictly political and peaceful. President Macron believes that the election of Maduro was illegitimate and corrupt. President Macron has said “Europe supports the restoration of democracy and welcomes the courage of the hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans who march for their freedom.” Madour fails to enforce his support for these people and has said “His forces [do] not hesitate to kill.” (ONU ,2)We feel Maduro has failed to not only meet the needs of his people, but also the expectations of him as a president. A truly good leader wouldn’t consider killing his own people, but instead encourage them to have a voice. The people of Venezuela “have massively called for democracy and the possibility to freely determine their own destiny”(France 24, 4) as France believes “These voices cannot be ignored.” (France 24, 4). At this point it is a question of life or death for thousands of innocent Venezuelans; “Each minute we lose represents lives lost.” (France ONU, 8) France strongly believes we as the UN should start to step up our contributions to Venezulaelan by up to $100 million. Frances has said “We will pursue our efforts in close cooperation with the relevant United Nations agencies, with full respect for the principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality and independence.” (France ONU p 7) We believe we should start focusing on meeting the needs of the Venezualens so that they don't feel the need to leave. These innocent people are not being treated as humans, and that fact is very clear.

-Adolescences Project-
During the adolescence project we explored and studied everything that has to do adolescences. We studied the attachment theories, the importance of adolescence, and adolescent brain development. We studied the affects that certain type of attachments affect the adult you will you become. We choose a person close to us and interviewed them about what their own adolescents was like. We asked for all the good and the bad and then created a picture that we felt best represented their childhood.
